Alan King is a Florida native and a graduate of the University of Florida. He began his career in Brevard County commercial real estate almost 30 years ago. During this time he has worked with projects which have changed the face of the County and now provide goods and services locally which traditionally were only available outside the area. His experience with both local small business people as well as Fortune 500 companies gives him both a local perspective and a world view.
Early in his career Alan recognized the relationship between the utility of a property and its worth in the marketplace. The uses allowed on property is a function of land planning and zoning which is controlled by governmental entities. In order to understand this process, and better serve his clients, he applied and was appointed to the Brevard County Planning and Zoning Board and within a few years became Chairman. He has served on the City of Melbourne’s Planning and Zoning Board for almost 20 years and currently serves as Chairman. This exposure to virtually every site and building plan in those jurisdictions during this time has served him well in his brokerage career.
While working in his real estate practice he has been recognized by the Bankruptcy Court of Central Florida as an expert witness, obtained a CCIM designation and acted as a Court appointed receiver. He is active in the by invitation only Commercial Investment Roundtable, a group of Central Florida brokers and developers as well as the Economic Development Commission of East Central Florida. He is also active in numerous local fundraisers and charities.
